Sun, sculptures & stickers
Hi everyone!!
Happy summer time! It’s finally here and for a girl who spent the past 8 years in the bay area, I am sweating, dying, barely surviving this humid heat wave. 90-100 degrees and constant rain = free outdoor sauna. 🫠Anyways! Otherwise I am loving the warm summer nights and just everyone being out and about having a good time! The concept of work slowing down in summer is a strange concept to me, but I’m loving the mini summer break that everyone on the east coast seems to embrace.
The kiln at the studio has been down for 2 months, resulting in a lot of frustration and lack of motivation to make work without my pieces ever making it to reality. I’ve had to pause working on pieces for the next drop as well as commissions I have and it’s been very unfortunate. Moving to a new city and having to find a whole new rhythm and studio space has proved to be quite the challenge. Ceramics is quite the demanding craft, requiring a dedicated and specialized space to create. Kilns, wheels, clay trapped sinks, etc all make ceramics fairly inaccessible. I’ve been increasingly envying other crafts that can just be done at home and seeking them out! But at the end of the day, ceramics is my one true love and it’s still my favorite medium to create with regardless.
I frequently start projects and get sidetracked, but let me show you what has come out of the kiln for my comics project! (Read about it here) I’m pretty new to bringing my character into true 3D sculpture form, she’s always stayed 2D so this was quite the challenge. I’ve been struggling finding an illustration style I want to stick to for the comic so I’ve been neglecting that aspect of the project.

I’ve made a few new stickers that I feel like match my work identify a bit more! I’m going to list them on the website with the next drop but I’m wondering if I should offer them as a pack or separate? Maybe I’ll do both.
Also just finished an illustration! I’ve been trying out a lot of brushes and textures to get that traditional paint and paper feeling. I’ve never loved my digital work as much as when I pick up the pen and paper, I’ve come to realize maybe that’s why I love painting on ceramics so much because the dimensionality and textures are what makes it so good!! But it’s harder to document and definitely less portable and requires more space and tools so I’m trying to create that same effect digitally. I definitely want to continue this series!
Not too much for this update but thank you for reading and see you soon with hopefully lots of ceramics coming out of the kiln!! Manifesting good kiln energy.
Bye bye!
